Ingredients
- 6 cups (900 g) sliced peaches, fresh, frozen, or drained canned
- 3/4 cup (150 g) sugar, divided
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup (130 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk
- 1/2 cup (113 g) butter, melted
How to cook peach cobbler step by step
- Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Toss the peaches with 1/4 cup of the sugar, the lemon juice, and the cinnamon and let them sit while you mix the batter.
- Whisk the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl, then stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined.
- Pour the batter into a buttered 9x13 dish and spoon the peaches and their juices evenly over the top — do not stir.
- Bake 40–50 minutes until the topping has risen around the fruit and is deep golden.
- Cool 20 minutes before serving so the juices set; serve warm with ice cream.
Chef's tips
- The batter rises through the fruit as it bakes — resist the urge to mix it.
- Berries, plums, or apples all work in the same quantities.
