How to Make Banana Bread

Ingredients
- 3 very ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup (115 g) melted butter
- 3/4 cup (165 g) brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups (190 g) flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
How to cook banana bread step by step
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- Mash the bananas, then whisk in the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Fold in the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon just until combined.
- Pour into the pan and smooth the top.
- Bake 55–65 minutes, until a skewer in the center comes out with only moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan 15 minutes, then turn out onto a rack.
Chef's tips
- Blacker bananas make better bread; freeze them whole until baking day.
- Tent with foil at 40 minutes if the top browns too fast.
